First ever history of Desertserges Parish published by retired principal teacher


For all those interested in Enniskeane and Desertserges Parish and its long history and in the history of West Cork:
Con McCarthy, former Principal Teacher of Ahiohill National School and respected local historian, has published a comprehensive history of Desertserges Parish.

It was launched on Sunday 25th November, 2018, in the Four Winds, Ahiohill.

It has almost 600 pages and is illustrated with photographs and a lengthy appendix of sources.
It chronicles the parish’s history from the earliest times to the foundation of the state.
It’s on sale locally in retail outlets for €20.
It is also available online at the parish website and can be posted to anywhere in Ireland, to mainland UK or anywhere else in the world.
Any profits from the book will be donated to the Capuchin Day Centre, Dublin, which feeds the homeless and was established by Desertserges native Brother Kevin Crowley OFM Cap.
