Next Sunday (Oct 24th) is Mission Sunday. This annual event focuses our prayer, thoughts and actions on the words of Jesus who asked us to “Go tell everyone” the Good News. All Christians across the globe are actively following that call in many different ways.
The life of missionary priests, sisters, brothers and lay people who devote their talents to ministering among the people of the “young church” in developing countries is one very clear way of answering the Lord’s call.
Their message is not just words – it is accompanied by works which aim to address the material needs as well as the spiritual needs of our brothers and sisters in developing countries. Our donations to the Mission Sunday collection are used to help provide the new parishes in Asia, Africa and South America, with funds to build churches, schools, hospitals, seminaries and to educate and train leaders – lay and clerical – who will serve their own communities.
